Power of the proverbial word among the Ahaly and the Sondo people

The Ahaly and the Sondo, two Baoule peoples of central Ivory Coast, to refine the word,
to convince an interlocutor and to educate individuals, frequently use the proverb, a short statement
marked by wisdom and general truth. The proverbial word among these peoples is marked by the
preeminence of images, symbols, rhythm, culture and social ideology; which is the basis of its
expressive and interpretative power. To carry out this study, field, ethnolinguistic and thematic
methods allowed us to collect and analyze the corpus of proverbs. Therefore, how is the power of
the proverbial word manifested between the Ahaly and the Sondo? What values do these paremias
contain? What is its impact on individuals and society? This study intends to show that the proverbs
ahaly and sondo are powerful words of wisdom which participate in social regulation
