A tool of communication by essence and by excellence in the traditional African universe,
the proverb is a genre that encompasses all moments of life in Africa. Its presence and frequent use
beautify a domain, a sector in everyday African life : that of justice. Indeed, this genre remains a
crucible of values so dear to justice. Among these, we can mention: the search for truth, caution in
judicial proceedings, the determination to impose punishment only on the guilty, the appropriate and
deserved sanction. These values intrinsic to a peaceful existence circulate in the proverb like blood in
the human body. They will lead us in the present analysis to an examination of the relationships
between proverbs and society, proverbs and social justice. By the way in which the proverb closes
the debate in certain acute crises, in certain visceral oppositions, credit must be given
to the role of this genre in the judicial field
