Traces of the Diplomatic World in Le Mort-Vivant by Henri Djombo

This study examines the manifestations of diplomatic practices in the novel The Living Dead by Henri Djombo. Shewants to be a hermeneutic of the text and is interested in the way Henri Djombo, in his capacity as former ambassador, immerses the reader in the universe of diplomatic representations, in order to make him discover the twists and turns and the avatars of the arcana of African diplomacy. She analyzes two diplomatic spheres whose invariants and partitionsdo not intersect and do not intermingle in a structural and philosophical logic: one modern, placed under the architectural fittings of the Western world, the other customary, exploring secular endogenous knowledge to settledisputes. The objective is to show that Henri Djombo uses his knowledge, his know-how, and the nuanced and coded lexicon of the diplomatic world to build the fabric of his narrative. The study is built around the following questions: howdoes Henri Djombo represent the modern diplomatic world for himself? What is the perception of customary diplomacy compared to the so-called modern one? Within the framework of this study, we opt for the interdisciplinary approach by summoning the theories of sociocritics, international relations, sociology of characters and hermeneutics. Our reflectionrevolves around three axes: the precariousness and the expressive language of the diplomatic universe, the opprobrium generated by the setback of fortune of the profession of diplomat and the ideal cultural diplomacy.
