Francis Ponge’s cosmophanic landscape

Cosmophany is a concept from the mesological theory of landscape developed by Augustin Berque, which deals with the ways in which a landscape reality appears to a subject. Our study, « Landscape cosmophany in Ponge's poetry », focuses on the different trajections (perceptions) of landscape in Ponge's poetry. In a corpus of four poetic texts, 'Le lézard', 'Bords de mer', 'La Seine' and 'Carnet du bois de pins', we will attempt to elucidate the threefold constitution of landscape and Ponge's lyrical renewal through two modern approaches to landscape, Augustin Berque's mesology and Michel Collot's landscape-thinking, This article sets out to show how the notion of landscape is accompanied by a new categorisation of living.
